Canyamel
The correct gestion of the beaches has major priority for the village of Capdepera, that since 2009 is holder of a ambiental certificate ISO 14001:2004, considering the beaches of Cala Mesquida, Cala Agulla, Son Moll, Cala Lliteres, Cala Gat, Font de Sa Cala and Canyamel.
As well we have several beaches with the Blue Flag (Cala Agulla,Cala Mesquida, Font de Sa Cala and Canyamel).
Canyamel is situated at seven kilometres from Cala Ratjada, between Cap des Pinar or des Raix and Cap Vermell. It is a valley through which the torrent with the same name flows the whole year, where ducks and marine birds live, and next to Serra de Sant Jordi and Puig Negre.
This touristic and residential area is located nearby a wetland formed by the torrent in its mouth. The beach is beautiful and you can also visit the Coves (caves) d'Artà (450 metres wide and 310 metres long), the second in Majorca, situated in the cliffs of Cap Vermell and visited by Jules Verne, Victor Hugo or Alexandre Dumas and others. This fine-grained golden sandy area is very crowded by local visitors and tourists.
The marine and underwater conditions of this beach, open to southeast, are excellent for anchoring boats, although it is not very sheltered from the storms. The depth ranges from four to five metres on a sandy ground, although the best option for anchoring boats is on the starboard side of the entrance, right in front of the cliffs of Cap Vermell. The nearest port facilities are located at Club Nàutic Cala Rajada, at two nautical miles.
The accessibility by car is easy following the signs. The private car can be parked for free near the beach or in the streets of the surroundings. The bus stops nearby.
